Feature Request: Show total size of selected untracked files #220
In Maintenance → Untracked Files, the selected files are currently counted correctly, including files inside nested folders (e.g. multiple episodes of a series).
However, there is currently no indication of the total size of the selected files.
It would be very useful to show the combined size alongside the selected file count, for example:
101 files selected — 42.9 GB
This would make it possible to see how much data will be moved to the array before clicking “Move to Array”.
Currently, the total size can only be seen after starting the move, in the resulting details/pill.
I think displaying the total selected size next to the file count would be a small but very useful UX improvement.
Small UI/Design consideration
While making this change, it might also be worth considering the positioning of the “Keep on Cache” and “Move to Array” buttons from a UI/design perspective.
For example, having the action buttons right-aligned could potentially make the layout a little clearer and separate the selection information from the available actions.
Just a small design thought that could be considered alongside the size display.
A quick note on why I have a lot of untracked files:
I currently have Tdarr running a large job that removes foreign-language audio and subtitles from my entire library. The processed files are written back to the cache.
This actually works very well with PlexCache-D for my setup: I can see the newly processed files in Untracked Files and use Move to Array almost like a replacement for the Unraid Mover.
The big advantage for me is that, unlike the Unraid Mover, I can choose exactly how much data I want to transfer to the array at a time. So this has basically become my main mover at the moment. 😄
Showing the total size makes sense to me. Move to Array moves real data, so seeing how much before you click is useful, and every row already carries its size in data-size, so it should be a small change to the selection counter. One thing to watch: a folder row carries the total for everything inside it, and the files under it carry their own sizes, so selecting a folder shouldn't count both.
If we add it, I'd do the same for Orphaned Backups and Duplicates, since they use the same "Selected: N" pattern and the same per-row sizes. Better to keep the three cards consistent than to have it on just one.
On the button position, I'd leave that as it is. The buttons sit next to the selection count on all three cards, and I'd rather not change one on its own.
Happy for you to open a PR if you want to take it on.
Commit 1 adds the combined size next to "Selected: N" on all three cards (Untracked Files, Backup Cleanup, Duplicates), using the existing per-row data-size, exactly as in the screenshot in my previous comment and with the button position unchanged, as you suggested.
For the double-counting you mentioned, group rows in Untracked Files now expose their own file in a new data-file-size, so selecting a group together with its children counts every file once. Duplicate file rows were missing data-size, so that is added too. The size uses the same 1024-based format as the operation pill, so the figure matches what is shown once the action runs.
As I said, I wasn't happy with how the buttons and "Selected/Size" sit next to each other, so I tried a layout idea and put it into commit 2, which is clearly marked as optional: action buttons on the first line, the selection summary on its own line below in slightly larger type, and the same on all three cards so they stay consistent. On Duplicates, "Sonarr/Radarr integration active" moves next to "Scanned".
It is independent of commit 1, so please drop it if you'd rather keep the current layout.
Tested with the rendered template and the real selection script in jsdom, and live on my instance with 57 files in 5 groups (37.98 GB, matching the sum of the group sizes). Backup Cleanup was empty on my side, so that card is covered by the jsdom test only.

The PR is up: #223
It does what I described above.
