ScanCraft

A modern, offline-first Android Document Scanner & PDF Creator.

features

  • Camera Scan: Auto-detects document edges (MVP: Manual capture).
  • Edit: Crop and apply filters (B/W, Grayscale).
  • Library: Organize and search documents.
  • PDF Export: Generate A4 PDFs on device.
  • Offline First: No internet required, all processing is local.

How to Run in Android Studio

  1. Open Android Studio.
  2. Select File > Open...
  3. Navigate to the project directory: /Users/shivanshkumar/Documents/Cam Scanner.
  4. Select the folder and click Open.
  5. Wait for Gradle Sync: Android Studio will automatically detect the settings.gradle.kts and libs.versions.toml. It will download necessary dependencies.
    • Note: If you see a "Gradle wrapper incomplete" warning, simply click the "Upgrade Gradle Wrapper" link or let Android Studio regenerate it.
  6. Select Build Variant: Ensure debug is selected.
  7. Connect Device:
    • Connect a physical Android device via USB (Debugging enabled).
    • Or create an Emulator (Camera support required).
  8. Run: Click the green "Run" (Play) button in the toolbar.

Troubleshooting

  • "SDK Location not found": Create a local.properties file with sdk.dir=/Users/your_user/Library/Android/sdk (Android Studio does this automatically on open).
  • Camera Permission: The app needs Camera permission. If denied, go to App Settings to enable it manually if the dialog doesn't appear.

Architecture

This project follows Clean Architecture with Multi-Module setup:

  • :app - UI Host
  • :feature:* - Screens (Scan, Edit, Library)
  • :core:* - Reusable components (Data, Camera, ML, PDF)
