IllegalStateException: duplicate artifact path: library/NOVLLIBAJC-JS (an internal error; the server log has the details) #174
Hi,
After todays presentation, I started with DirXMLDevWeb. I imported my client's Designer project, but on most places I click now, I'm getting the error:
IllegalStateException: duplicate artifact path: library/NOVLLIBAJC-JS (an internal error; the server log has the details)
Where is the server log?
On the righthans side, I get 8 errors. Most of them replicate that error:
check-failed: check 'links' threw java.lang.IllegalStateException: duplicate artifact path: library/NOVLLIBAJC-JS
Where links can also be 'compile','gcv','ecmascript','filter' or 'pacakge-linkage'.
In the tree-view on the left side, I indeed have 2 items named "NOVLLIBAJC-JS" in Library>Resource. Selecting one item also seems to select the other. I seem unable to delete either one (no context menu, del key does not do anything).
Thanks for trying it, and for the clear report and screenshots.
What happened. Your project's Library holds two objects named NOVLLIBAJC-JS. A Designer project can hold that where a tree (like an eDirectory container) holds one name once. The usual causes:
the driver set uses Libraries in two containers that both have the object;
an old copy left behind by a package upgrade.
The import wrote both, and the tree then refused to load. That is why nearly every page, and every validation check, failed with duplicate artifact path.
On import: DirXMLDevWeb keeps one of the two. If they come from different Libraries, it keeps the one in the driver set's own Library, which is where a deploy writes; otherwise the newest package version. The import page then tells you which it kept and which it left out (its Library DN, package version and Designer object id).
Your current project: it loads again, and validation shows one duplicate-artifact error naming the two.
Once it's released, upgrade (step 1 of the quickstart again, then step 2) and import the project again. Until then, a workaround is to delete one of the two in Designer and import again, if that copy isn't needed.
The server log: for the local install it's the container's output:
docker logs idmweb --tail 200
The next release says this in the error itself.
Could you share the project? We'd like to check the fix against what you have. Either of these would help:
the Designer project directory, zipped;
an Export Configuration of the driver set;
or at least the DNs of the two NOVLLIBAJC-JS objects (Designer: right-click → Properties) and whether the driver set uses more than one Library.
If it holds client details you can't post here, say so and we'll arrange a private way to send it.
Deleting from the tree: the artifact's own page has Rename… and Delete… at the top right. The tree on the left doesn't have a context menu yet.
0.81.0: the import keeps one of the two NOVLLIBAJC-JS objects and tells you which one it left out.
0.82.0: an object from a Library in another container is marked read-only and kept as a link to that Library. Compare and deploy leave it alone, so a deploy no longer copies it into the driver set's own Library.
To upgrade, run steps 1 and 2 of the quickstart again, then import the project again.
If it still fails, please send the project or an export as described above. We'll leave this open for a while in case you can share it.
Hi,
indeed: I have 2 library folders in Designer: the default and a custom one the client created. Both contain NOVLLIBAJC-JS. I never noticed that.
At the top right, I'm not seeing the delete or rename. That's probably also due to the error message. This is the full application page I get (the same for every resource):
After upgrading to 0.82.0, I now do have the buttons and the warning:
duplicate-artifact
NOVLLIBAJC-JS
the tree lists 2 objects are named library/NOVLLIBAJC-JS (an Identity Vault holds one per name in a container): kept the resource (from package NOVLLIBAJC 2.2.3.20251215133712, Designer object C3COUBTX), left out the resource (Designer object 34J617HY). Import the project again with this version, which keeps one; or delete the other's <artifact> entry and file from the manifest's folder
