The docs still said no OctoSense shell serves AI to store apps. Since 2026-09-27 the shells have gained:

  • model.complete (OctoSense#95)
  • octos.* for contained apps, behind first-use consent (#106, #120)
  • glance for any app granted it (#86)
  • an agent for every app that declares one: a peer with the bundle's tools.json tools and an "Ask " panel (#145, #184)

Changes

  • docs/AI-SERVICES.md and docs/AI-SERVICES.zh-CN.md, updated together. The facts were checked against OctoSense main 7082ff5 and App Hub main 0f33211. Sections changed:

    • the short answer
    • how the assistant is built
    • the argument shapes: the shell's octos service also takes trigger and from
    • what the person sees
    • errors: new rows for consent, turned off, and unavailable
    • the model section, renamed from "Coming: …" (anchors #one-shot-model-calls-model and #一次性模型调用model)
    • status at a glance
    • an app's own agent
    • tools and peer tools: implemented_by: "app" tools are refused for now
    • the toolbox (toolbox-peers is off in shipped builds; OctoSense#64)
    • glance
    • the News walk-through
    • testing fakes and sources
  • docs/CAPABILITIES.md, docs/HOST-SERVICES.md, docs/GLOSSARY.md, docs/QUICKSTART.md, README.md, README.zh-CN.md and AGENTS.md: the same facts. The AGENTS.md rule is now "Every AI feature is optional", and card-host still serves none of these services.

  • docs/SCRIPT-API.md: net.web_socket is held to the host list, and net.socket_stream and net.http_server are refused in a store app (makepad#30).

  • After App Hub#38 merged (second commit):

    • CAPABILITIES.md: the prompt row. The capability still does nothing, and whether a sheet may appear is now each surface's decision.
    • SCRIPT-API.md: the timeout, waiting-limit and refused-sheet errors that host.request can now return.
    • HOST-SERVICES.md: call.may_prompt and HostService::timeout for service authors.
    • The OctoSense shells have the timeouts and the waiting limit since OctoSense#243 (App Hub 58c3c8ae). The refused sheet on a tile or tool call comes with OctoSense#204, which is still open (third commit).

Still marked coming:

  • sys.digest: OctoScript#40, OctoScript-Makepad#50 and OctoSense#87 are open.
  • Model choice from needs, triggers and background runs, and app memory.
  • Installing AGENT.md and skills into the peer.
  • The toolbox for app agents.

Checks

  • python3 tools/check-links.py: 0 broken.
  • In-page anchors in both AI-SERVICES files resolve.
  • Both languages have the same number of table rows (149), GitHub links (80) and headings (35).
  • python -m unittest discover -s flows/tests: OK.

The 2026-09-30 statements are quoted from the named pull requests and code; they were not run on a device.

The shells now serve `model` (OctoSense#95), `octos.*` to contained apps
behind first-use consent (#106, #120), `glance` to any app granted it
(#86), and an agent with its bundle's tools and an "Ask <app>" panel for
every app that declares one (#145, #184). The docs still said no shell
serves any of these.

- AI-SERVICES (English and Chinese): short answer, errors (consent,
turned off, unavailable), the model section, status table, the app's
agent, tools and peer tools, toolbox, glance and the News walk-through,
checked against OctoSense main 7082ff5 and App Hub main 0f33211.
- CAPABILITIES, HOST-SERVICES, GLOSSARY, QUICKSTART, README (both) and
AGENTS.md: the same facts; AI stays optional in every app, and
card-host still serves none of it.
- SCRIPT-API: net.web_socket is held to the host list; socket_stream and
http_server are refused in a store app (makepad#30).
App Hub#38 moved the sheet decision from the `prompt` capability to the
surface (each request's may_prompt) and made every host request settle:
a timeout (60 s by default, paused while the service's sheet is up), a
limit of 32 waiting calls per app, and a refused sheet on a tile or a
tool call. The shells take it with OctoSense#204.

- CAPABILITIES: the `prompt` row no longer says ServiceCall lacks the
flag; the capability still does nothing, and sheets are the surface's.
- SCRIPT-API: the errors an app can now see from host.request.
- HOST-SERVICES: call.may_prompt and HostService::timeout for service
  authors.
OctoSense#243 moved the shells to App Hub 58c3c8ae, so request timeouts
and the waiting-call limit apply there now. They still mark every call
may_prompt: true, so a tile or a tool call is refused a sheet only with
OctoSense#204 (open). CAPABILITIES, SCRIPT-API and HOST-SERVICES said
the shells would get all of it with #204.
