Summary

  • grag status text output is regrouped into sections (Database, Server, Embedder, Index, Clients, Skills, Others). Each detected problem is flagged with the command that fixes it:
    • an owner running an older grag than the CLI;
    • an active registration selecting another database;
    • skills that differ from the runtime;
    • a code root needing ingestion.
  • Color is used only on terminals. NO_COLOR disables it and FORCE_COLOR forces it.
  • Home paths are shown as ~, and UUID-bearing database names are shortened.
  • Registrations shadowed by a higher-precedence one show their issues as informational and don't count them as problems.
  • New --verbose flag: every running server, full paths, runtime and owner source, raw index state and discovery limits.
  • --json is unchanged apart from additive structured fields in server: database_bytes, database_id8, embedder and servers. servers omits shutdown tokens.
  • doctor output and admin.status_lines are unchanged.

Cost

Status takes ~0.3 s instead of ~0.2 s locally, because server discovery runs twice.

Test plan

  • tests/test_status_view.py: sections and fixes, hidden noise, verbose detail, a healthy setup, configuration errors, and color/NO_COLOR
  • Existing diagnostics, admin, project-identity and native-timeout status tests
  • Full suite, ruff, mypy
