Decide the channel manifest: which addons ship to main / 21omega / 22piers #14

Part of #12

Question

For each of the ~9 repo-owned addons, which channel(s) does it ship to — and in what form is that mapping stored in the repo?

Live data (2026-07-06) suggests: everything → main, except skin.carpc-xtouch_me → 21omega + 22piers (not main). Open sub-questions:

  • Confirm the skin's dual-channel/omission-from-main is intentional.
  • service.apkredwizard and service.multiinstallmybinaries exist in the repo but are not live in any channel — should the pipeline ship them, and where?
  • Should the mapping live as a checked-in manifest file (e.g. channels.json / .yml) the build script reads, or as convention in the script?

Deliverable: the decided mapping and its storage format, recorded in the resolution comment.

    Resolved. The channel manifest mirrors the live server exactly, stored as stdlib-parseable channels.json at the repo root:

    {
      "plugin.audio.mp3streams": ["main"],
      "plugin.program.theredwizard": ["main"],
      "plugin.video.chainsliveplayer": ["main"],
      "plugin.video.gratisred": ["main"],
      "plugin.video.redlight": ["main"],
      "script.gratisred.artwork": ["main"],
      "repository.redwizard": ["main"],
      "skin.carpc-xtouch_me": ["21omega", "22piers"],
      "service.apkredwizard": [],
      "service.multiinstallmybinaries": []
    }

    Decisions:

    • Mirror the live layout: everything → main; skin.carpc-xtouch_me → 21omega + 22piers only (its xbmc.gui 5.17.0 import is the Kodi 21 GUI API — omission from the ungated main channel is treated as deliberate). Channel re-shuffles are the maintainer's call later; one-line edits.
    • service.apkredwizard and service.multiinstallmybinaries are excluded (not live today) but listed with [] so the exclusion is visible and reversible. They still get CI validation.
    • Two enforcement rules for the build script: fail if any addon dir with an addon.xml is missing from the manifest (new addons must be consciously mapped); fail if the manifest names a directory that doesn't exist (catches renames). TMDb-Helper-Players has no addon.xml, so it's outside the manifest's domain entirely.

    Closing — manifest decided, see resolution above.
