Summary

  • Deliver P02d-5 trusted public server rendering: native HTTPS ingress, verified
socket provenance, a bounded server-only API caller, live-host/locale entry and
    dynamic/no-store public rendering.
  • Complete the five approved ADR-0054 remediation steps: fair visitor accounting,
native method/upgrade and URL controls, owned fixture cleanup/containment,
falsifiable source/tooling guards and aligned current documentation.
  • Preserve API-owned tenant/organization resolution, RLS, physical READ ONLY
transactions and the existing public OpenAPI/SDK contract. Product pages and
    the browser demo remain P02d-6/7.

Approach

Native ingress signs the actual socket peer, host, method and raw target. The
middleware and configured caller verify that private envelope. Only the configured
adapter emits API-hop headers; the injected SDK carries no authority defaults.
The caller pins its loopback API origin and enforces a single 10-second deadline,
8-MiB decoded-body limit, no redirects and no-store.

Anonymous admission owns actual visitor limiters. Exhausted known visitors refuse
before peer debit; new visitor allocation remains peer-gated. Request-local
success/refusal snapshots prevent a second debit on framework endpoint retries.
Acquisition and bounded idle-sweep batches share one owner lock; teardown joins
sweeping and disposes children outside the lock.

All native HTTP callbacks admit GET/HEAD only, including health/assets. Production
upgrades close; development retains validated HMR. Forwarding carriers are stripped
from parsed/raw headers, Next debug output is suppressed before framework loading,
and URL verification matches pinned Next processing while retaining raw route
identity. Redirects preserve ordered query values with equivalent percent encoding.

Tests

Validation for final head f09a4edf3e00e7043f6775642e10e40024ab9393:

  • Strict Release solution build: zero warnings/errors. 2,940 .NET tests passed:
    1,705 unit, 198 architecture, 4 contract, 172 Docker-free integration and
861 Docker integration; zero failures/skips, with TRX counters checked.
  • Review follow-up: 11 lint-tooling and 7 ADR lifecycle/workflow tests passed
    under invalid inherited GIT_DIR, GIT_INDEX_FILE, GIT_WORK_TREE and
GIT_CONFIG_COUNT, and again under the normal environment. Temporary Git and
hook processes use a sanitized environment with their required overrides.
  • 578 guarded frontend tests passed (518 web + 60 SDK), zero skips/todos;
workspace typecheck, lint, production build and generated SDK drift passed.
  • Real native TLS/Next verification and 19 failure controls passed, including
setup/interruption/pipe cleanup, foreign listeners, TLS verification,
split/early/shutdown leaks and production upgrade closure. Real API/PostgreSQL
HTML/RSC and configured-build containment are included in the Docker suite.
  • 178 source-boundary cases cover constructor/conversion aliases, header iterators,
actual render-helper mutations, alias/export census and separate Next SWC /
TypeScript controls. Guarded lint/runner and real workflow disclosure controls
retain named failing and clean cases.
  • 7 ADR lifecycle/workflow and 14 OpenAPI CI controls passed; both compose
projections validated with and without the gated profile. Format, strict commit
hygiene, insertion-only Accepted ADR history, changed-doc links/fragments and
added-prose/diff checks passed. Fragment verification is manual; CI checks file
    targets.
  • Every implementation/remediation step completed two fresh independent review
rounds; confirmed findings were fixed, committed and verified. All six required
checks passed on this exact head:
    CI run. Branch protection remains
strict with the existing six required contexts.

The reproducible local workflow is documented in
run-tests-locally.
CI now pins the locally validated Node 22.23.1, matching .nvmrc and the workspace
minimum.

Risk

  • This changes the trusted public-ingress and anonymous-admission boundary
(ADR-0036/0053/0054); the API still owns tenant authority and existing RLS/read-only
enforcement remains intact. Private hop configuration must stay paired.
  • Quotas remain 60/IP and 600 peer acquisitions/allocations per fixed window. They
do not cap total refusal work, prove production throughput, or provide distributed
fairness. NAT sharing and process-lock contention remain explicit; Phase 11 owns
edge protection, load evidence, production topology and replay/key lifecycle.
  • Local host mapping and CA/leaf trust remain manual. Renderer fixtures require
free 3000/3011 and refuse collisions without killing existing processes.
    P6 product/accessibility work and P7 browser/demo/Lighthouse are not claimed.

Migration / Rollback

No database migration or public schema change. Upgrade Node to 22.23.1 and follow
README Quickstart: explicit hosts and mkcert CA/leaf setup, make public-env, then
make public-api and make public-web in separate terminals. Direct stock Next
startup does not establish trusted provenance.

Roll back the ingress/caller/API runtime together; do not mix hop or envelope
contracts. The maintainer reviews and merges this PR; it is not merged by the agent.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added secure HTTPS entry for local public sites, with locale-aware redirects and clear responses for unsupported routes.
    • Public rendering fetches fresh content on each request, so publication changes appear without restarting the web server.
    • Added paired local commands to prepare configuration and start the API and web server.
  • Security & Reliability
    • Added coordinated visitor and network request limits, and safeguards that refuse invalid requests before site lookup.
    • Strengthened protections for private connection details and untrusted requests.
  • Documentation
    • Updated the Quickstart with certificate, host, and paired API/web setup instructions.

Record verified merge and CI evidence so completed public API work is
clearly separated from upcoming server rendering and browser delivery.
Keep accepted decision history and earlier delivery records intact.

ADR: 0052
Record maintainer approval before implementation so the native ingress,
visitor budgets and uncached rendering have one explicit authority.
Preserve accepted history and separate pending proofs from delivery.

ADR: 0036, 0041, 0052, 0053
Capture connection provenance before Next and authenticate its private
carrier so forwarded headers and a stock launcher cannot select a
visitor identity. Pair local API and web configuration without exposing
migration credentials or changing workstation trust implicitly.

ADR: 0036, 0053
Preserve the signed raw request target while checking Next's pinned
query transformation, so valid query spellings and RSC requests retain
admission. Refuse repeated path slashes before framework redirects and
exercise both corrections through the production TLS launcher.

ADR: 0053
Give the no-queue owner and its child budgets explicit DI lifetime.
Verify synchronous and asynchronous teardown without hiding live limiters
behind disposed request services; close both Step 2 review rounds.

ADR: 0053, 0036
Bind API transport to verified native provenance and a private origin.
Enforce total request deadlines, decoded response limits and no-store
rendering; bootstrap before membership-first locale redirects.

Validate real HTTP transport limits, production TLS entry, route identity
and API trace continuity without shipping P6 page placeholders.

ADR: 0053, 0052, 0036
Move asynchronous bootstrap fixture failures into the awaited outer
flow so child and temporary-file cleanup always runs. Keep failed hop
assertions free of credential values and prove the intended red path.

ADR: 0053
A grammar-valid boundary pair makes the accepted width guard independently
falsifiable; both fresh review rounds and fix verification now close Step 3.

ADR: 0053
Production builds now exercise the trusted caller against the real API
and PostgreSQL, while source and outcome guards keep its isolation,
server-only boundary and uncached eligibility from drifting silently.

ADR: 0053
Exercise missing-report refusal after a successful child process and cover
namespace import aliases and destructured raw headers in source fences.
Align workflow guidance with the accepted P5 decision and record the
independent first review round and fix verification.

ADR: 0053
Keep the public boundary guards falsifiable across ordinary static
export aliases and preserve explicit export precedence. Prove bounded
cleanup for descendants that outlive their fixture leader, including
transient and persistent permission refusal, and record both fresh
reviewers' independent verification.

ADR: 0053
Record the completed four-step delivery and both independent review
rounds with actual local evidence. Keep pinned CI evidence separate,
preserve accepted history and name P6 pages and P7 browser proof as
the remaining walking-skeleton work.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

This pull request adds native HTTPS ingress with signed provenance, locale-aware public entry, a configured server caller, and API visitor and peer limits. It adds production verification and a guarded frontend test runner, updates local launch commands, and records accepted policies and delivery status.

Changes

Trusted Public Server Rendering

Layer / File(s) Summary
Native ingress and local launch
frontend/apps/web/src/server/ingress.ts, frontend/apps/web/scripts/*, scripts/public-local.mjs, Makefile, .env.example, frontend/apps/web/package.json
The native HTTPS server validates and sanitizes incoming requests, then attaches signed provenance before forwarding them to Next.js. Local configuration and launch commands prepare and start the paired web and API processes.
API visitor and peer admission
backend/src/LearnStack.Api/Tenancy/*, backend/src/LearnStack.Api/Program.cs, backend/tests/LearnStack.Tests.Integration/Database/TrustedVisitorHttpTests.cs, backend/tests/LearnStack.Tests.Unit/Api/Tenancy/*
The API applies fixed-window budgets for canonical visitor IPs and physical peers. Invalid trusted visitor metadata spends fallback quota and is refused before host lookup.
Configured caller and public entry
frontend/apps/web/src/server/configured-public-client*, frontend/apps/web/src/server/public-entry*, frontend/apps/web/src/middleware*, frontend/apps/web/src/app/(public)/layout.tsx
The server-only caller verifies provenance and constrains API requests. Middleware bootstraps site data, routes enabled locales, and rebuilds downstream headers. Public routes use dynamic, no-store rendering.
Production proofs and guarded test runner
frontend/apps/web/scripts/verify-*, frontend/apps/web/src/test/*, scripts/run-frontend-tests*, backend/tests/LearnStack.Tests.Integration/Database/PublicServerRenderingTests.cs, .github/workflows/ci.yml
Production fixtures test ingress behavior, tenant separation, response freshness, and private-value containment. Source checks cover public boundaries. The guarded runner discovers frontend test packages and rejects incomplete or unsuccessful reports.
Policy and delivery records
docs/decisions/*, docs/standards/*, docs/architecture/*, .claude/skills/*, README.md, CLAUDE.md, docs/roadmap/*
Project records describe accepted rendering and rate-limit policies, local setup, implementation scope and status, and deferred Lighthouse activation.

The change can merge with small follow-ups. The test-only Git fixtures should clear inherited GIT_* variables. The architecture-tests catalogue header should state that ADR-0054 proofs are implemented. Neither issue affects runtime behavior.

Scope the closeout to the original four-step delivery.

The closeout does not state that its “no verified P5 issue or maintainer decision remains open” claim is historical. The later remediation section says that the original delivery is historical, ADR-0054 remains Proposed, and maintainer approval is pending. Without an explicit scope, readers can treat the closeout as the current P02d-5 status and overlook the open decision.

maintainer decision remained open for that historical scope, without implying
that the current P02d-5 status is closed.

Own visitor limiters, peer-gate creation and replay request outcomes.
Retire only fully idle quotas and join sweeps during DI teardown.
Prove accounting, lifecycle and real ASP.NET endpoint retries.

ADR: 0054
Block disposal after the first batch and prove admission still progresses.
Reject an unbounded-batch mutation before verifying the restored source.

ADR: 0054
Record independent approval and the verified bounded-batch correction.
Align current Step 1 status while preserving historical delivery notes.
Close production upgrades, preserve guarded development HMR and suppress
framework diagnostics before Next initialization. Strip proxy authority
carriers and retain signed raw route identity through URL projection.

Prove native TLS admission, ordered redirect data and actual Flight-header
restoration through the real API and PostgreSQL rendering fixture.

ADR: 0054
Record independent runtime and proof approvals for remediation Step 2.
Preserve dated ADR delivery notes and proceed to fixture reliability.
Join setup, signals, control closure and EPIPE through owned cleanup.
Prove strict TLS, child readiness, sticky scanning and configured builds
with independent clean controls and source mutants.
Retain private trees when child absence cannot be established, and drain
shutdown output before containment passes. Defer partial token boundaries
until a delimiter or EOF so stream fragmentation cannot change verdicts.

ADR: 0054
Record verified fixes and fresh independent review evidence before
proceeding to source and tooling remediation. Preserve delivery history.
Make header conversion and module-resolution fences falsifiable against
the real graph and pinned compilers. Align staged/CI lint and supported
Node wiring, and prove raw hop fields and app-only local API startup.

ADR: 0053, 0054
Track destructured global constructors and named header iterators so
ordinary static aliases cannot escape the public authority fence. Keep
iterator properties and shadowed or inert reads clean, and exercise the
real render-helper closure as well as isolated controls.

ADR: 0053, 0054
Reuse verified global constructor resolution in the hop-header setter
fence. Prove qualified and aliased setters fail in isolated controls
and the real render graph while shadowed constructors stay clean.

ADR: 0053, 0054
Record the independently verified static-alias corrections and both
Step 4 reviews. Keep original delivery counts historical and move
current corpus and PR closeout to Step 5.

ADR: 0054
Make the packet record the current remediation status owner and align
route, seed and setup guidance with delivered API-owned authority and
local HTTPS behavior. Preserve Accepted ADR history and distinguish
passing local checks from pending final reviews and exact-head CI.

ADR: 0053, 0054
Close the first corpus review finding by pointing the remaining status
copy to the current packet record. Wrap the two remaining added prose
lines and record independently verified local evidence.

ADR: 0054
Record final local validation and both independent closeout reviews.
Keep exact published-head CI and PR readiness on the PR itself so
historical evidence is not mistaken for the current remote result.

Remove inherited GIT_* variables from fixture Git and hook processes
so caller repository and index settings cannot redirect their work.
Keep required hook and workflow overrides on the sanitized base.

Refresh the README evidence reference and ADR-0054 proof status.
Validated 11 frontend tooling and 7 ADR tests under invalid inherited
Git settings, plus typecheck, lint, formatting and document links.
