Touch devices panning fast makes zoom

On touch devices, if a user drags the map multiple times fast, the map both pans and zooms in/out.

The expected behavior should be only panning, no zooming.

This may be a conflict with another gesture where you double tap the map then drag up and down to zoom in and out.

Tap-and-zoom is an important gesture to allow zooming without awkward two-finger gestures and without having to hit the tiny zoom buttons. The way that it is intended to work is that you tap the map once and immediately after touch it again, leaving the finger on the screen. Then if you drag the finger up and down, you can zoom in and out. Is this what you mean or are you saying that even when you drag the map around on the first touch it activates the gesture?

The tap-and-zoom is normally triggered like this:

1. First Tap: Touch the screen with your finger and lift it off immediately. This is a standard, quick tap.

2. Second Tap: Touch the screen again at the same location (or nearby) with the same finger, within a short timeframe.

3. Hold: Do not lift your finger after this second touch. Keep your finger pressed firmly against the screen. Drag up and down to zoom in and out.

However in this case, the tap-and-zoom is abnormally triggered by:

1. Touch the screen with your finger and then drag the map quickly, then life it off. This is a map dragging behavior.

2. Within a short timeframe touch the screen with your finger again at any location and then drag the map quickly, then lift it off.

3. Normally this will trigger a map dragging behavior again (no zooming). However, this awkwardly both drags the map and zooms the map.
