Why

Renovate was onboarded in #340 and reads renovate.json from the default branch, main. With no base branch configured it read the dependency files on main and would have opened every update against it. main is the latest release and nobody commits on it; dev is the trunk every pull request targets.

What

baseBranchPatterns names dev. Renovate keeps reading its configuration from main, reads the dependency files from dev, and opens its pull requests against dev.

How to review

One option added to renovate.json. The option name is the current one in Renovate's schema; baseBranches was renamed to baseBranchPatterns.

The "Pull requests target dev" CI job goes red on this PR by design, as it did on #340: the configuration file has to live on the default branch for Renovate to find it. After merging, dev needs git merge origin/main once so that bin/release can fast forward main again.

Renovate reads renovate.json from the default branch, main, and without a base branch
configured it also read the dependency files there and targeted main with its pull requests.
main is the latest release and nobody commits on it; dev is the trunk every pull request
targets. baseBranchPatterns names dev, so Renovate reads the dependency files from dev and
opens its pull requests against it.
