ENSTA Robotics Club

Student robotics community at ENSTA. Building autonomous robots, humanoids and open-source robotics projects.

ENSTA Robotics Club

Building robots. Learning by doing.

ENSTA Robotics Club is the student robotics community of ENSTA, bringing together students interested in robotics, autonomous systems, embedded software, artificial intelligence, electronics and mechanical design.

Based at ENSTA's Brest campus, we design and build complete robotic systems, from first concepts and simulation to hardware integration and real-world testing.

🤖 What we build

Our projects span multiple areas of robotics:

  • Autonomous mobile robots
  • Humanoid and legged robotics
  • Robot navigation and perception
  • Embedded systems and electronics
  • Control and state estimation
  • Mechanical design and prototyping
  • Simulation and digital twins
  • Robotics competitions

We believe the best way to learn robotics is to build real robots and make them work.

🚀 Projects

PHARE

Plateforme Humanoïde Autonome de Recherche et d'Expérimentation

PHARE is our long-term humanoid robotics project.

The goal is to develop a modular research platform for autonomous humanoid robotics, combining wheel-legged locomotion, perception, control, embedded systems and artificial intelligence.

From simulation to a complete autonomous humanoid platform.

French Robotics Cup

Every year, ENSTA students design and build autonomous robots for the Coupe de France de Robotique.

The project brings together software, electronics, mechanics, strategy and system integration under real competition constraints.

Experimental Robotics

The club is also a playground for smaller projects, prototypes and experiments involving:

  • ROS 2
  • Navigation and SLAM
  • Computer vision
  • Manipulation
  • Reinforcement learning
  • Embedded Linux
  • Microcontrollers
  • CAN and robotic actuators
  • Simulation with tools such as MuJoCo and Gazebo

🛠️ Our approach

Robotics is a system discipline.

A great algorithm is only useful if it works on the robot.

We encourage our members to work across disciplines, prototype quickly, test on real hardware and understand the complete robotic stack.

🌱 Learn by building

You do not need to already be a robotics expert to join.

The club is a place to learn through real projects, collaborate with other students and progressively take responsibility for increasingly complex robotic systems.

Members can contribute to software, electronics, mechanical engineering, AI, simulation, project management or communication.

🤝 Open source

We want our projects to be useful beyond the club.

Whenever possible, our software, tools, documentation and research projects are developed openly so that future ENSTA students and the wider robotics community can build upon them.

🏫 ENSTA

ENSTA is a French engineering school with campuses in Brest and Paris-Saclay, with strong activities in robotics, autonomous systems, embedded systems, artificial intelligence and complex engineering systems.

ENSTA Robotics Club is a student-led initiative.

📡 Follow our work

More projects, documentation and resources will progressively be published here.
