The Remora V2 is a highly compact, custom development board built around the powerful ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N8 module, intended for use as a lightweight, low-cost sensor node.
At its core Remora is a custom ESP32 S3 devboard with a accelerometer + gyro built on through a soldered on module. It has a enclosure along with magnets at the bottom, and in the future micro suction tape.
-
Microcontroller: ESP32-S3-Wroom (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc)
-
Sensing: Header for an MPU-6050 (GY-521) I2C IMU sensor (Accelerometer and Gyroscope).
-
Power Management: Integrated Li-Ion battery charger (TP4057) and 3.3V LDO Regulator (XC6210B332MR).
-
User Interface: Onboard addressable RGB LED (user-controlled) and charger status LEDs (CHRG/STDBY).
-
Mounting: Custom enclosure designed for magnetic mounting, with future plans for micro suction material integration.
I'm building Remora as a learning project and as a low-cost alternative to expensive monitoring equipment.
The goal is to create a tiny node that can attach through magnets or micro suction material to machinery or vehicles and give realtime telemtry through a web dashboard.
