Summary

Implemented the backend tutor verification workflow, enabling tutors to submit applications for review and ensuring that only verified tutors can create courses.

Changes

• Added tutor application endpoint supporting:

  • Statement of expertise.
  • Sample lesson submission.

• Implemented an admin approval queue for reviewing tutor applications.

• Added tutor verification status tracking.

• Added verified tutor badge support.

• Added authorization checks to restrict course creation to verified tutors.

• Handled unverified tutor access attempts appropriately.

Testing

• Tested tutor application submission and validation.
• Verified admin approval and rejection flows.
• Tested verified badge/status updates.
• Verified that verified tutors can create courses.
• Verified that unverified tutors are prevented from creating courses.

Acceptance Criteria

• Tutor application endpoint implemented.
• Expertise statement and sample lesson supported.
• Admin approval workflow implemented.
• Verified tutor status/badge implemented.
• Only verified tutors can create courses.

Result

The backend now provides a complete tutor verification workflow with administrative review and access control, ensuring course creation is restricted to verified tutors.
