Moves crates/bgz-tensor/tests/palette_immutable_salience_probe.rs here from #1718. Unlike the local helpers already in this series, it exercises the real implementation, so the series keeps its experiment contract and gains the concrete counter-probe. #1718 is closed as superseded once this lands. Purpose
Probe the operator's four-part distinction without replacing the codebook: immutable reference frame, salience-weighted "MP3" selectivity, Palette256 index = needle, and separate relation lookup. These are independent claims, not a general hallucination guarantee.
Existing substrate
crates/bgz-tensor/src/palette.rs: WeightPalette, assignments, distortion radiicrates/bgz-tensor/src/projection.rs: Base17::l1_weighted (20× directional, 3× magnitude, 1× detail)crates/bgz-tensor/src/fisher_z.rs: pairwise relation codec.claude/knowledge/reference-frame-vs-motion.md: immutable baked frame versus mutable session overlaysNew falsifiable slice
This adds a test using the actual Base17 and WeightPalette APIs. It pins (1) the direction-vs-detail weighting and (2) a read-only reference frame: assignment and lookup cannot change the baked palette. It does not claim that salience automatically suppresses semantic hallucinations, or that the Rust Vec fields are technically immutable. The production API's externally-mutable fields remain a future hardening question.
Next independent measurements
On real held-out corpus samples, compare unweighted versus weighted top-k retrieval, loud/quiet signal coverage, missed rare truths, changed-snapshot refusal, and negative controls. Treat perceptual selectivity as a measurable trade-off rather than guaranteed denoising.
Verification
cargo test --manifest-path crates/bgz-tensor/Cargo.toml --test palette_immutable_salience_probe.No runtime changes. No executable code borrowed from Google Search.
