Follows the operator ruling on bounded numeric directory coordinates. Merge before the companion lance-graph PR, which builds against this vocabulary.

Delta

ogar-dir-core: dn128

  • Dn128 holds 16 levels of u8 codes. Depth is stored beside the codes, so code 0 is a real level and no byte value is reserved as a terminator.
  • Bytes past the depth are zero (canonical form).
  • subtree_mask() returns the (pattern, care) pair for a ternary match. It has to be paired with a depth gate.
  • DirectoryScope(Guid128) is the domain or tenant. It is external context and never a level.
  • Dn128::from_ou_hhtl converts the ingress OuHhtl. It fails closed with ChildCodeOverflow when a parent has more than 256 children. It never hashes or truncates. OuHhtl stays as the record-wire and ingress format.

ogar-dir-sim: numeric vocabulary

  • ValueId and KeyId are stable ids issued by the executor's cold label/value store.
  • NodeState, Change::SetAttribute, Operation::SetAttribute, Precondition::AttributeEquals and Violation::Duplicate{Smtp,Upn} now carry ids instead of strings.
  • NodeState.dn: Option<Dn128> replaces ou.
  • ExecutionPlan::from_diff(…, key: Fn(ValueId) -> KeyId): rename-chain ordering compares comparison keys.
  • normalize stays, and is documented as ingress-only.

docs/DIRECTORY-SIMULATION-POC.md

  • V3 is closed by the Dn128 ruling.
  • V4 stays open. It records, without changing it, that a missing userAccountControl currently reads as enabled.
  • The allocation figures are updated to 1k / 16,384 / 65,536.

Tests

  • ogar-dir-core: 13 tests, including 4 new for dn128:
    • code 0 is a level;
    • a 17th level is refused;
    • conversion fails closed at 257;
    • a subtree query needs the depth gate.
  • ogar-dir-sim: 9 tests. ogar-ad: 6 tests.
  • Clippy -D warnings and fmt are clean.
  • Disable check: making from_ou_hhtl truncate (as u8) turns the dn128 test red here, and turns the 257-child ingress test red in lance-graph.

Open, not decided here

  • The AD + Entra "active" merge policy (V4).
  • Missing UAC is read as enabled. This is recorded, not fixed.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Improvements
    • Directory simulations now handle hierarchy locations consistently, with clear limits for hierarchy depth and child entries.
    • Attribute changes are compared using stable identities, improving detection of duplicate addresses and ordering of conflicting updates.
    • Plans can identify release-before-claim dependencies even when values have different identities.
  • Documentation
    • Updated the simulation specification with hierarchy limits, identity handling, and snapshot capacity details.

Operator ruling: a 16 x u8 hierarchy coordinate with explicit depth, the
domain as external scope, and no strings in population execution.

ogar-dir-core:
- dn128: Dn128 (16 levels x u8, depth stored beside the codes, code 0 is
  a real level) and DirectoryScope. from_ou_hhtl converts the ingress
  OuHhtl and fails closed past 256 children per parent
  (ChildCodeOverflow); it never hashes or truncates. OuHhtl stays the
  record-wire and ingress format.

ogar-dir-sim:
- ValueId / KeyId: stable numeric ids issued by the executor's cold
  label/value store. NodeState, Change::SetAttribute, Operation,
  Precondition and the duplicate violations carry ids, not strings.
  NodeState locates a node by Dn128.
- ExecutionPlan::from_diff takes the value -> key mapping, so ordering
  renames compares comparison keys.

docs: DIRECTORY-SIMULATION-POC closes V3 (Dn128 ruling), records the
missing-userAccountControl-means-enabled finding under V4 without
changing it, and updates the measured allocation figures.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The pull request adds a 16-level directory hierarchy coordinate and numeric value and comparison-key identities to the simulation model. It updates transfer ordering to use comparison keys and adjusts unspecified SurrealQL parser settings to use defaults.

Changes

Directory simulation model

Layer / File(s) Summary
Hierarchy representation and scope
crates/ogar-dir-core/src/dn128.rs, crates/ogar-dir-core/src/lib.rs, docs/DIRECTORY-SIMULATION-POC.md
The core crate exposes Dn128 and DirectoryScope. The specification describes hierarchy conversion and matching, snapshot populations and allocation measurements, and recorded model constraints.
Simulation identity types
crates/ogar-dir-sim/src/change.rs, crates/ogar-dir-sim/src/lib.rs, crates/ogar-dir-sim/src/violation.rs, docs/DIRECTORY-SIMULATION-POC.md
Node state and attribute changes use ValueId; duplicate violations use KeyId. The crate exports both types, and the specification describes their use and lifecycle.
Key-based transfer ordering
crates/ogar-dir-sim/src/plan.rs
ExecutionPlan::from_diff accepts a ValueId-to-KeyId mapping. Transfer ordering uses mapped keys, and tests cover release-before-claim ordering, canonical ordering, and cycles.

SurrealQL parser configuration

Layer / File(s) Summary
Default parser configuration
crates/ogar-adapter-surrealql/src/lib.rs
The parser uses Config::default() for unspecified fields while retaining its explicit depth limit and warning and feature settings.

The surrealdb fork's main (a floating git dependency; no lockfile is
tracked) added quirk_redefine, quirk_block_first_no_semi and
quirk_delete_permission_field to surrealdb_parser::Config, so the
exhaustive initializer stopped compiling and `cargo test -p
ogar-adapter-surrealql --features surrealdb-parser` went red on any
fresh resolve, main included. The explicit settings are kept; the rest
comes from Config::default() (all quirks off).

The cargo check + test failure on 108bd2f was in cargo test -p ogar-adapter-surrealql --features surrealdb-parser. This PR's diff doesn't touch that crate.

What broke: the floating AdaWorldAPI/surrealdb#main dependency (no lockfile is tracked) added three fields to surrealdb_parser::Config: quirk_redefine, quirk_block_first_no_semi and quirk_delete_permission_field. The adapter's exhaustive struct initializer stopped compiling, and main fails the same way on any fresh resolve.

Fix (ported here, 432fbd7): keep the explicit settings and fill the rest with ..Config::default(), which leaves all quirks off. Locally, the adapter's 35 tests pass with the feature on and fmt is clean.

storing `Option<Dn128>`. Alternatively, clearly label the old matcher
description as historical; keep `OuHhtl` as the ingress and record-wire format.

A Dn128 carries no scope (the domain / tenant is external context), so a
plan must not compare a desired version with an observation of another
directory. The executor reports that as ScopeMismatch instead of
deriving creates, deletes or Unconvergeable from incomparable codes.

Addresses the review finding that identical OU paths from two scopes
yield identical Dn128 values.
