ogar-dir-sim: CreateNode / DeleteNode in the change algebra - #316
Conversation
Replaces the NodeSetChanged limitation with the smallest semantic extension: a node's canonical fields as NodeState (kind, active, UPN, primary SMTP, OuHhtl), carried as the content of a CreateNode and as the compare-and-set expectation of a DeleteNode. Identity stays Guid128. Plan gains CreateObject / DeleteObject with ObjectAbsent / ObjectEquals preconditions. Change and Operation variant order is a safe application order (creates first, deletes last), pinned by a test. PlanError loses NodeSetChanged, which no longer occurs. Design doc: V2 closed; V3 (HHTL depth 8) and V4 (AD + Entra active) recorded as blocked decisions with the exact collision and options. 📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe directory simulation change model now includes node state on creation and deletion. Planned operations use absent-object and exact-state preconditions. The design notes describe rebasing, OU representation, and activity data from AD and Entra. ChangesDirectory Simulation

- Around line 90-92: Update the `Precondition` used by `PlannedOp::from` for
`Change::DeleteNode` so deletion requires the expected `NodeState` and no
memberships, whether the node is a member or a group. Add or reuse a
precondition that represents both checks, and update the deletion-precondition
assertion to expect it.

- Line 152: Update the child-limit statement in the directory simulation
documentation from 256 to 255, consistent with OuHhtl::depth() reserving zero as
the path terminator and the existing 255-child statement.

…ship Codex review on #316: - A sorted plan put every CreateObject before every DeleteObject, so a new node taking the UPN / SMTP of a node deleted in the same plan would fail (or briefly duplicate). Order is now remove membership, delete, set attribute, create, add membership: an address is freed before it is claimed. A cycle of renames remains unorderable without a temporary. - The delete precondition pinned only NodeState, so a membership added in reality after the observation would not stop the actuator. It is now ObjectRemovable(state): this state and no membership on either side. Zero is the path terminator, so populated segments use 1..=255. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01G22yT6htkcdyXsihxxXdrg
A create whose node already exists in the latest observation with a different kind, enabled flag or OU can neither be skipped nor converged: the change algebra sets only UPN and primary SMTP. Name that conflict instead of letting a plan claim convergence (Codex review, lance-graph #1325). by its current owner before a dependent SetAttribute claims it; derived object
ordering alone can claim an address still held by another object. Add a test
with object 1 changing a → b and object 2 changing b → c, and verify the
resulting plan releases b before claiming it.

…is claimed CodeRabbit review on #316: with object 1 a -> b and object 2 b -> c, the canonical (identity) order ran object 1 first while object 2 still held b. Within the attribute-set block of a plan, sets now follow release -> claim dependencies (Kahn, ties in canonical order, comparison form so case does not hide a dependency). A rename cycle keeps canonical order and stays a documented open point. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01G22yT6htkcdyXsihxxXdrg
Vocabulary half of the directory node create/delete step. The execution half is the paired lance-graph draft PR on
ccr-0455e606-wmtsor; merge this first, then that one immediately, because lance-graph CI builds against OGAR main and matchesChangeexhaustively.Change additions
NodeKind { User, Group }moves here from lance-graph, since it is semantic vocabulary.NodeState { kind, active, upn, primary_smtp, ou: Option<OuHhtl> }holds exactly the fields a snapshot row holds. Strings stay raw and OU stays numeric; no DN appears anywhere.Change::CreateNode { node: Guid128, state }carries the content to create.Change::DeleteNode { node: Guid128, state }carries the expected state as a compare-and-set check.Plan additions
Operation::CreateObject { object, state }andOperation::DeleteObject { object }. These are ordered first and last respectively, so a sorted plan is a safe execution order. A test pins this.Precondition::ObjectAbsentandPrecondition::ObjectEquals(NodeState).PlanError::NodeSetChangedis removed; it can no longer occur.Decisions recorded, not taken (
