Sharing a SwiftBar plugin I've been using myself for a while: Argus.
I was running several MCP servers and local AI services at once (mcp-proxy,
ComfyUI, a local llama.cpp server for code completion, plus a few remote
MCP endpoints like Home Assistant and Forgejo/Gitea) and got tired of
switching to a terminal every time I just wanted to check "is X still
running?" or restart it. Argus puts all of that behind one menu bar icon —
status at a glance (SF Symbols, not color, so it matches native macOS
style), Start/Stop/Restart/Activate/Deactivate per service, update
notifications when a newer version is available, and read-only info
(version, loaded models, hosted MCP servers, ...).
One thing worth calling out for this repo: it's a personal, opinionated
setup published as a reference/starting point rather than a
plug-and-play install — the services and most paths/ports are specific to
how I run things locally. The README documents how to adapt it
(
lib/config.local.shfor personal-but-not-secret values, Keychain foractual secrets), and shows the shape a
services/*.shfile follows if youwant to add your own.
Built with Claude Code as a pair-programming tool under my own direction
(what to monitor, how each menu should behave, which edge cases actually
mattered) — mentioning that since it seemed worth being upfront about.

Wouldn't exist without SwiftBar itself — thanks for building it.
