From f57132e0de528a98fd673fa41c1dfaeb018ca38e Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: claudespice Date: Thu, 10 Sep 2026 01:19:31 -0700 Subject: [PATCH] docs(cayenne): v2.2 preserves timestamp units; the 2.2.x snapshot still said microseconds spiceai/spiceai#13180 removed TimestampToMicrosecond from Cayenne's creation rewrite rules, so a table created on v2.2.0 or v2.2.1 keeps its source unit and timezone. The version-2.2.x snapshot still listed timestamps as normalized to microseconds and carried the Timestamp(Nanosecond) -> Timestamp(Microsecond) conversion row. Mirrors the vNext wording from #2186 into the snapshot the change actually shipped in. version-2.1.x and earlier are left alone: those releases really do normalize unconditionally. --- .../data-accelerators/cayenne/index.md | 17 ++++++++++++----- 1 file changed, 12 insertions(+), 5 deletions(-) diff --git a/website/versioned_docs/version-2.2.x/components/data-accelerators/cayenne/index.md b/website/versioned_docs/version-2.2.x/components/data-accelerators/cayenne/index.md index 0d66086f3..c2f812b81 100644 --- a/website/versioned_docs/version-2.2.x/components/data-accelerators/cayenne/index.md +++ b/website/versioned_docs/version-2.2.x/components/data-accelerators/cayenne/index.md @@ -645,7 +645,7 @@ Cayenne (via Vortex) supports most Arrow data types with the following considera - Boolean - Utf8 and LargeUtf8 strings - Binary and LargeBinary -- Timestamps (normalized to Microsecond precision) +- Timestamps, preserving the source unit and timezone - Date32 and Date64 - Lists and FixedSizeLists - Maps @@ -653,10 +653,17 @@ Cayenne (via Vortex) supports most Arrow data types with the following considera ### Automatically Converted Types -| Original Type | Converted To | Notes | -| --------------------------- | ------------------------ | --------------------------------------------- | -| `Float16` | `Float32` | Automatic conversion for Vortex compatibility | -| `Timestamp(Nanosecond/...)` | `Timestamp(Microsecond)` | Precision normalized | +| Original Type | Converted To | Notes | +| ------------- | ------------ | --------------------------------------------- | +| `Float16` | `Float32` | Automatic conversion for Vortex compatibility | + +:::note Tables created before v2.2.0 + +These tables continue to normalize timestamps to microseconds.
