The point is Google does not give an option to non-resident keys (anymore).

If you go to https://github.com/settings/security
There are 2 sections to add security key:

Top:
Passkeys
Passwordless sign-in with biometrics or security keys

Bottom:

Security keys
Configured
1 key
Security keys are webauthn credentials that can only be used as a second factor of authentication.

Earlier many sites offered both Top and Bottom.

Now sites likeGoogle offer only Top one.

Seems a little short sighted. Like it is driving users in to passkeys and pwordless login instead of allowing us the option to use webauthn for 2FA. Going back to the original post, about 100 resident keys could be maintained.
