Python From Zero | Nuel Logics
Welcome to Session 3 of Python From Zero!
This session builds on the Python fundamentals you learned in Session 2 and introduces programming logic, Boolean values, and decision-making in Python. You will learn how to make a program respond differently depending on a condition.
By the end of this session, you should be able to:
- Understand what a Boolean value is and identify
TrueandFalse. - Understand how comparison operators produce Boolean results.
- Use
ifstatements to make decisions in Python. - Use
elseto handle an alternative outcome. - Understand and use
elifwhen a problem has multiple possible outcomes. - Turn a simple algorithm into working Python code.
- Test a program using different inputs.
- Break a larger programming problem into smaller steps.
Download or view the accompanying student handout.
Handout: View Session 3 PDF
- Watch the complete video lesson.
- Read the PDF handout alongside the lesson.
- Follow the examples and run the Python code yourself.
- Practice predicting what a program will do before running it.
- Bring your questions to the learning community.
Practice using Boolean values, comparisons, if, else, and elif.
Revisit the voting-eligibility algorithm from Session 1 and use your new Python knowledge to implement the logic as a working program.
Focus on understanding how a comparison produces a Boolean result and how that result controls the program's decision.
You will also begin thinking about how a larger problem can be broken down into smaller steps in preparation for the Student Result Manager project in the next session.
In Session 4.1, we begin building the Student Result Manager by combining the Python fundamentals and decision-making concepts you have learned so far.
