I don't know if this qualifies as a bug, but I've noticed people seem to be using the place ID finder app enough that it's using up the Google Maps API quota. Javascript console shows:
You have exceeded your daily request quota for this API. If you did not set a custom daily request quota, verify your project has an active billing account: http://g.co/dev/maps-no-account For more information on usage limits and the Google Maps JavaScript API services please see: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/usage
Thought I'd raise the issue in case anybody else is hitting it and not sure what to do.
I've found that this copy hosted in Google's own developer docs does still work:
