Summary

• UpdateMulticastGroupRoles now runs the full EdgeSeat feed gate instead of only re-validating coverage: a role add ticks the covering feed's seat and appends it to user.feed_pks. Before this, a user joining a group drawn from a second feed on its pass consumed that feed's capacity for free.
• Seats are held per feed, not per group, so a second group inside a feed the user already holds does not tick again. A removal releases the seat once the user's last group in that feed goes away; the device/feed accounts stay optional there so the removal-only cleanup preceding DeleteUser/RequestBanUser keeps working.
• user subscribe --feed and user create-subscribe --feed. The SDK resolves the metro gate itself (device from the user, feed from the pass's seat serving that metro and carrying the group), so --feed is an override rather than a requirement; update_multicast_group_roles takes the pair as a new optional argument.
• The SDK checked EdgeSeat role changes against the multicast-group allowlists, which EdgeSeat passes bypass onchain, so it rejected every such change before building the transaction.
• New UserDeviceMismatch (variant 101) in place of a bare InvalidAccountData on the device-identity check.
• Out of scope: the e2e, which belongs in the feed-subscription repo driving feed-subscription-admin for the pass plus this CLI for the connect and role change.

Testing Verification

• New onchain cases in feed_metro_gate_test.rs: a group from a second feed ticks that feed's own seat; a second group inside a held feed does not tick again (that seat is max_users: 1, so a double tick would fail as FeedSeatFull); missing metro gate, feed not on the pass, group not in the feed, and a device that is not the user's are each rejected on their exact error code; the seat is released on the last group's removal, kept while another group in the feed remains, and kept when a removal omits the gate.
• SDK test covering metro-gate resolution, including skipping a feed that carries the group but serves another metro.
• CLI test covering --feed code resolution against the user's device metro.

   - Route liveness recovers from a transient loss in roughly one backed-off probe interval plus two round trips, instead of up to three such intervals. A state-changing RX now advertises the new state immediately and re-arms the normal transmit cadence, rather than waiting out the timer armed while the session was Down (exponentially backed off up to `-route-liveness-backoff-max`). Two defects contributed: the RX path never enqueued a TX on a state change, and the scheduler's sleep had no wakeup path, so an event pushed earlier than the deadline it was sleeping on could not shorten that sleep — which also delayed the first probe of a newly registered route by up to another peer's backed-off interval. The *first* probe after the path recovers is still bounded by the backed-off interval, so the `backoffMax` default (60s) still sets the floor on recovery time; that default is unchanged here. The immediate transmit takes over the pending-TX slot rather than adding to it, so recovery re-arms the normal cadence instead of leaving the session silent until the stale backed-off deadline — which would have made the peer time it back out and flap the route every detect interval. It is also paced by the transmit interval measured from the last send, so a peer whose inbound traffic is blocked and which therefore repeats `Down` (flipping the session Down↔Init on every packet) cannot drive the transmit rate 1:1 with its send rate past `minTxFloor`/`maxTxCeil`; and a displaced transmit event is now dropped as stale when it pops, as detect events already were, so a takeover emits no duplicate packet and leaves no backlog. Also logs the effective `minTxFloor`/`maxTxCeil`/`backoffMax` at startup, since a wrong value was otherwise only visible as slow reconvergence. (#3935)

You are performing a thorough code review. You must NOT make any code changes, and you must NOT post the review to GitHub. The operator will read your findings in the dashboard and decide what to do.

REVIEWER SUB-AGENTS

In addition to your own holistic review (the steps below), launch one Task sub-agent per reviewer in parallel and wait for all to return. Then write one consolidated review that merges your findings with theirs — deduplicate overlapping findings, group by severity with the C1/H1/M1/L1 numbering, and attribute each to the reviewer(s) who raised it (in the review prose only — never inside the roadbike-review-findings block). Save it to /home/claude/workspace/.roadbike-scratch/pr-review.md.

Consolidating means triaging, not relaying — more findings isn't better. A sub-reviewer's finding is input to your judgment, not an obligation to pass through: apply Step 6's triage bar to every finding, and record what you cut in the ## Triaged out (not posted) section so the operator can audit the removals. If a sub-reviewer leaves an open question ("confirm that…", "verify whether…"), investigate and answer it yourself before the report goes out — never relay it to the author unresolved (Step 6).

The checkout starts as a --depth 1 clone; a background git fetch --unshallow runs at launch but may not have finished. Without the merge-base, any local diff against main (two-dot or three-dot) can misattribute unrelated history to this PR — e.g. the PR appearing to revert commits it never touched. Resolve your own questions before reporting them. A finding phrased as a question — "confirm that…", "verify whether…", "check if…" — is unfinished review work, and shipping it makes the author do your verification. You have the checkout and the tools to answer most of them yourself: read the code that actually decides the behavior (including dependency sources and the version the deployment really runs), check the tool's --help or docs, or build a minimal repro in the scratch dir. If the investigation confirms the problem, report it as a normal finding with the evidence; if it clears, drop it (or note it under Triaged out). Hand a question to the author only when it genuinely cannot be answered from the workspace — it needs private context, production data, or hardware you don't have — and then state what you checked and where you got stuck.

Triage before you finalize — more findings isn't better. The deliverable is a review the author can act on, not a catalog of everything you noticed. Unless the PR genuinely needs severe changes, keep the change requests to the few that matter: merge findings that share a root cause into one, and cut nitpicks, style preferences no linter enforces, speculative "consider…" suggestions, and anything you wouldn't raise with a colleague face to face. Critical and High findings always survive triage; be increasingly ruthless through Medium and Low. Give every Low an extra legitimacy check before it ships: it stays only if it's a definite improvement the author really should make now. If stating it needs a hedge — "maybe", "arguably", "okay here but could cause future problems" — it's speculation, not a finding: triage it out. Two cooperating defects, same root cause — neither side knows which feed the user's membership is actually held under:

• Onchain, the add path ticks any covering feed not yet in feed_pks even when the call changes no membership (smartcontract/programs/doublezero-serviceability/src/processors/multicastgroup/subscribe.rs:308). An idempotent re-add (e.g. user subscribe --subscriber re-asserted, or the CLI's role-carry when one flag is omitted), or a publisher-add on a group already held as subscriber (exactly what doublezero-daemon-cli sends from connect.rs:754-769), passes the gate against whichever covering feed the client supplies.
• The SDK resolves the gate by iterating accesspass.feed_seats() in seat order and taking the first feed that serves the metro and carries the group (smartcontract/sdk/rs/src/commands/multicastgroup/subscribe.rs:84), never consulting user.feed_pks.

When feeds F1 and F2 on one pass both serve the metro and both carry group g (an expected catalog shape), a user holding g via F1 whose next role call resolves to F2 consumes a second seat for the same group — or reverts with a spurious FeedSeatFull if F2 is at cap. Symmetrically, a removal resolved to the wrong covering feed skips the release (feed_pks doesn't contain it), stranding the held seat until delete. No adversary needed; seat counts silently drift.

Fix both sides: onchain, tick only when the call adds the user's first membership of the target group (check user.publishers/user.subscribers before update_user_multicastgroup_roles); in the SDK, prefer feeds already in user.feed_pks when resolving (partition the seat iteration on user.feed_pks.contains(&seat.feed_key)). Add an SVM test for the two-covering-feeds shape asserting exactly one seat held after a re-add.

H2. A unicast user under an EdgeSeat pass ticks a seat that DeleteUser never releases.
process_update_multicastgroup_roles has no user_type check, so an Activated IBRL/unicast user under an EdgeSeat pass can take multicast roles; the add path then ticks a seat and pushes onto user.feed_pks (processors/multicastgroup/subscribe.rs:290-312). But User::release_feed_seats early-returns for non-Multicast users (state/user.rs:519-521), so DeleteUser (processors/user/delete.rs:186) never gives that seat back — permanent capacity loss on the pass, and a violation of the documented invariant that feed_pks is multicast-only (state/user.rs:290-295). This also breaks parity with the connect path, which gates the feed logic on user_type == UserType::Multicast (processors/user/create_core.rs:688). One client mistake away on a permissionless-for-the-owner instruction. Fix: reject EdgeSeat role adds for non-Multicast users in the processor (mirroring the create-path condition), or at minimum skip the tick/feed_pks push for them.
