Why am I getting this error in the codespaces demo: "error checking APIBindings:"

I'm starting my journey on KCP after realizing the limitations of isolation via namespaces. As I'm going through the demo paces, I got tired of seeing this error whenever I execute so decide sharing is caring: Everything works just fine (I think) so it might be a warning and not an error. Below is the full error:

error checking APIBindings: the server could not find the requested resource (get apibindings.apis.kcp.io)
Current workspace is 'root'.

It's probably related to the fact that 01-deploy-kcp/10-start-kcp.sh doesn't work and hence had to use the README.md instructions instead: cd $WORKSHOP_ROOT && kcp start

In anycase, I'm proceeding with experimentation.

Hi! Sorry for the late response.

I'd hazard a guess and say that you have newer kubectl plugins installed but the kcp used in the london workshop still uses older APIs.
Can you check what the output of kcp --version and kubectl ws --version is?

As requested:

kcp version v1.31.0+kcp-v0.26.1
workspace version v1.35.1+kcp-v0.31.1

This error pops up after following steps in the README.md files in the following order:

• 00-prerequisites
• 01-deploy-kcp
• 02-explore-workspaces

At this step, on line 81 of the README.md, I encounter that error.

Everything keeps working though so just a minor annoyance.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking - kcp is v0.26.1 and the workspace plugins is v0.31.1 and probably tries listing v1alpha2 APIBindings.
Thanks for bringing that up, I've opened ticket to track that bug: #4106
