Could not create item solution/aliquot

An error occurred when creating a solution from an item. The amount of the original item is 50 mg.

After saving:

My guess is that here the representation as floating point number leads to a minimally larger number (e.g. 50.000001 mg) and when subtracting from the original item here a negative value results.
