Now Playing for Google TV

It would be nice to show what's Now Playing on a Google TV. I'm more often than not listening music when the screen saver comes on and it happens time and time again that I would like to know what track is playing just by looking at the TV. That would complete the experience in replacing Google's own screen saver.

You raise a good question.
Currently, I'm trying to replicate the Google screen saver somewhat, which puts the clock and the Now Playing at the bottom left.

I understand that with all the settings/visual elements that are available already this is Yet Another Thing.
Looking at the Settings.json example I guess there's no custom layout control available.
Perhaps, and I'm just throwing things on the wall here, as an in-between would be to introduce a couple of layout templates? As in my case, a template would include elements and locations

• clock, now playing: lower-left
• network status: lower-right

and another template would be

[ImmichFrame]

• day, clock: lower-left
• date: lower-right

You can customize layout with custom.css. However this would likely just be an Android TextView overlayed on top of the Webview, as otherwise I would need to inject javascript somehow which I really don't want to do.

Ok, let's see if I understand the situation.

• I can as of today, modify properties and layouts of things with a custom.css as it's affecting the contents of a WebView
• A new component such as Now Playing would be introduced as an Android Textview
  • This component will not be custom.css/user modifiable because it's being embedded in the screen saver app

I'm guessing adding controls to the ImmichFrame Android app settings to adjust a Now Playing TextView is not a direction that would be viable?
