I'd like to enhance the Loft tool to provide full control over cross-sectional shapes, dimensions, twist, and transitions along an object's length.
Key features:
Variable profiles and dimensions: Use different cross-sectional shapes, such as circles, squares, hexagons, or custom profiles. Control each profile's width, height, diameter, proportions, and position independently, allowing large size variations to create organic shapes such as a fish.
Independent twist control: Set the rotation angle and direction for each segment, including multiple revolutions and clockwise-to-counterclockwise changes.
Smooth, adjustable transitions: Control how profiles morph into one another and how rotation progresses between segments, from gradual transitions to sharper changes.
Variable pitch and rotation curves: Create helical geometries and mechanical joints with changing pitch and rotational progression. Control acceleration, deceleration, lead-ins, and smooth slowdowns for specialized threads and mechanical motion profiles.
Editable control points: Adjust profiles, dimensions, positions, twist angles, and transition curves interactively, with real-time updates.
Whole-object transforms: Move, rotate, and scale the finished loft as a single object without affecting its internal geometry or segment settings.
Example:
A single loft could start as a cylinder, gradually morph into a square, twist 270° clockwise, transition into a larger hexagon, continue straight, and then twist 540° counterclockwise with a progressively changing pitch.
The same system could create organic shapes, complex twisted forms, variable-pitch threads, and mechanical joints with controlled motion profiles.
The goal is to make the Loft tool a versatile, fully parametric modelling tool where shape, size, twist, and transitions can all be controlled independently along the object's length.
