Technical Proposal & Solution Report: Native Linux APT Integration for Google Antigravity
Author: John
Date: September 15, 2026
Subject: Native Linux APT Update Manager Integration for Google Antigravity 2.x
Target Audience: Google Antigravity Core Team, Linux Platform Engineering, Developer Community
1. Executive Summary
On Debian, Ubuntu, and Linux Mint systems, developers rely on OS package managers (
apt, Linux Mint Update Manager, GNOME Software) for automated background updates. Currently, direct repository references to Google's development artifact registry are inactive or restricted, leading many Linux users to run manual install scripts (install.sh).We have designed, deployed, and verified a production-grade Local APT Bridge Architecture on Linux Mint. This bridge enables Google Antigravity to be updated automatically alongside standard OS packages via normal system updates, without interrupting active projects or corrupting local workspace states.
This document contains the complete, exact implementation code and architecture so Google can either adopt this pattern officially, distribute it with the
.deb, or host a public APT repository.2. Architecture & Data Flow
3. Complete Implementation Code
Component 1: Synchronization Daemon (
/usr/local/bin/sync-antigravity-deb)Component 2: APT Pre-Invoke Configuration (
/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99antigravity-sync)// Sync latest Antigravity .deb before APT list updates APT::Update::Pre-Invoke { "/usr/local/bin/sync-antigravity-deb /var/local/antigravity-apt || true"; };Component 3: Local APT Source List (
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/antigravity-local.list)deb [trusted=yes] file:/var/local/antigravity-apt ./Component 4: Pre-Flight Safety & Active Task Guard (
safe_antigravity_update.sh)4. Key Security & Operational Highlights
