Persistence

Needs

• Serialize a query of entities to binary or json data to a variant
  • Entities
    • Components (component_resources & components)
    • Relationships? This might be tricky since we need to have references to entities Maybe v1 doesn't support relationships
    • If the entity is a prefab it saves it's filepath to be loaded
• Deserialize .gecs file to an array of entities that can be added to the world.

Serialize

var world_state = ECS.serialize(ECS.world.query.with_all([C_Persistent]))

Args:

• query: QueryBuilder - The Query that determines which assets are going to be serialized

Returns:

• Variant we can convert to binary or convert to json to save

Deserialize

var entities = ECS.deserialize('res://user/level-1.gecs')

Args:

• gecs_filepath: String - The path to the .gecs file that contains the serialized data you want to deserialize

Returns:

• entities: Array[Entitiy] - An array of entities you can add to your world
