But I think we can do better wrt coding focussed tables e.g. allow per column align, allow markup in columns or rows (back-ticks, emph, bold etc)

Somewhat related (maybe should be a different ticket): Enter a list of URLs and automatically create markdown links by pulling the title from the url page, so this:
