What feature do you want?
As a chromecast support workaround :
I'd love to be able to send a video to VLC at a specific resolution without having to switch from the "internal video player" to "Use external video player" (in the NewPipe "Video and audio" Settings) each time I want to be able to "chromecast" a youtube video via VLC.
The Share button could be a solution, but does not let use choose the resolution before sending the video.
Why do you want this feature?
Two reasons :
- The share button sends the original URL to VLC and VLC opens it at the maximum resolution and then the video playback gets jerky because the resolution is too high
- Switching from the "internal video player" to "Use external video player" (in the NewPipe "Video and audio" Settings) every time can be a little tiring over time
Why not propose a button asking (when clicked) for the video resolution and append the chosen resolution to the URL accordingly before sending it to VLC, examples :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUa8HeRxaV4&fmt=17 (for 176x144)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUa8HeRxaV4&fmt=18 (for 640x360)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TouMs3QGBg&fmt=22 (for 1280x720)
And the cream of the cream : start the VLC chromecast feature automatically 😄
