Describe the feature you want

Ability to watch the content of videos.fosdem.org similar to peertube would be nice.

Sadly only a few videos of Fosdem are available on YouTube. And for those which are available, they are scattered over many channels. To my knowledge there is not Peertube instance, which hosts Fosdem videos either.

How will you/everyone benefit from this feature?

We would be able to watch the wonderful content of Fosdem with our beloved NewPipe.

Getting the videos shouldn't be aproblem. Getting info on the videos is complicated.
We have two options here: parse the website which might be subject to changes or ask for read access to the shedule databse (which might be possible according to their website README)

Would you also not accept new service contributions by other people? What are the reasons for that?

I talked to the other maintainers and we came to the conclusion to make an exception for FOSDEM. You can go ahead with implementing FOSDEM in the extractor.

The main reason for stopping the inclusion for new services is that we can barely maintain the currently available services. Most of our time is spend with fixing bugs that are caused by changes to how services provide data.

FOSDEM staff here. The pretalx xml format ( https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/xml ) is fairly stable and contains the required metadata.

This holds true for historical talks from several years back, even if some were in the closely related pentabarf xml format. https://archive.fosdem.org/202{0-5}/schedule/xml .

We could also think about importing the metadata to media.ccc.de, only referencing the files on video.fosdem.org – But then c3voc would also need to generate Thumbnails etc.

If c3voc could just import all of FOSDEM, that would be really great. That's probably relatively simple and wouldn't even require building a new service into NewPipe.

Does anyone here already have contat to c3voc?
