Describe the feature you want

Presently you can download a video but only in full. It would be great if you could choose to partially download a segment of the video e.g. set possibly a start + end time and download only that part (audio, or video)

How will you/everyone benefit from this feature?

• Would be able to download clips/snippets from videos, saving bandwidth and storage space.
• Download only a snippet from a very long file that repeats e.g. 10 hr sleep sounds of rain, etc you could download just the first 15 minutes and have it loop on your device. This would save on download bandwidth and battery life.

@eladkarako a while back it was decided not to add ffmpeg to NewPipe, since it is too heavy and anyway the actions it would allow can be done by a separate app

@Stypox Partial downloads aren't a technical problem, though, right? It's essentially the same as the user deciding to seek to the middle of the video and buffering starting from there.

I think this would be an absolute killer-feature as post-download-editing on Android is a pain, esp. if you want to keep the same perfect compression that NewPipe appears to implement.

Trying to trim videos after downloading easily results in 10x file size for the same video with standard android apps. Plus, as I was unable to find any suitable app, I would actually prefer to avoid needing one altogether.

Although nice-to-have, I don't think scrubbing the video to the desired start and end position is a must. Accurate time inputs and maybe a preview for each frame would be great.

Was there any progress with this feature? YouTube app has the ability to make a clip from the video, but you need to then upload it to your channel publicly. Would be fantastic to have this option in NewPipe to not bother with uploading.
