[YouTube] Only showing MP4 360p while playing video (SABR enforcement)

Steps to reproduce the bug

When i play certain videos it only shows / play on 360p and there are not other quality listed and i open exact video on browser it shows there are more options

Expected behavior

There should be quality (resolution l listed

Actual behavior

Videos play on 360p and no option to change
(I couldn't attach screenshot it says failed to upload)

Resurrection of #12126

Started facing this issue (also on 0.28.3) some hours ago with every other video. Can't even properly report it because NewPipe is not throwing an error for it. Instead, all videos now throw the same error seen in #13281, and I'm asking myself: can NewPipe throw more than one error at once?

I have been seeing the issue for a few days now. Very similar to the issue we had last year #12126 as stated by @dustdfg.
Though I don't remember what temporary fix we may have found last year, right now it seems closing the app and opening it again solves the 360p quality issue.
You may also want to remember your timecode before doing that as I feel like I have had the video reset to the start a few times. I am unsure what could be causing this issue (I am on the latest version).

Unlike last year the 360p issue seems a bit random. I usually have it when I play a video, pause it and leave it in the background for a few hours and then come back to it.

This problem was claimed to be fixed on May 27th of 2025 and as of now that clearly isn't the case anymore.

So is the solution to rest on laurels from a year ago and do nothing despite youtube constantly making changes to undermine the function of newpipe?

I've noticed that recently too but oddly seems to only happen when the MPEG4 streams is the default video Stream.
I'll correct my statement If I see it happen with WebM as well.

Better watch out. Your comment will be hidden and labeled as "outdated" in short order only to later be edited to "resolved" or "duplicate" because the asshurt power tripping dev seems to think that former fixes from a year ago aren't being actively reversed by google even with MULTIPLE users reporting the same issue.

The issue for me is happening more and more in the last days. Basically have to restart the app 1-3 times for every video.
