Default Media player for downloads not selected automatically

Steps to reproduce the bug

Go to Downloads.
Select any file.

Expected behavior

I expected it to use my previous media player that was selected before (VLC).

Actual behavior

Android prompt always asks to select a media player.

@Star80th Is VLC the default media player app for your entire phone? Or do you mean you want NewPipe to remember the option you selected within NewPipe?

If it's the former, then I can see why this is a bug, but if it's the latter, then is this really a bug? Unless you picked an option that says "remember this choice" or "always use this option".

I'm actually unsure what my default video player is, because i have not been able to set it. My problem is, this did not occur before(which probably means VLC is my default), and this just started happening with this version and beyond

@Star80th Are you able to upload proof confirming the behavior on previous versions is not the same as 0.28.1 and onwards?

I'm another user who can confirm that it did not happen before a certain version of NewPipe... Before that certain version NewPipe always used VLC, after a certain version NewPipe keeps asking with every single vid I want see... When I go to "my files" app and tap on a vid the phone does know to open it with VLC (no asking needed)...

I thing it's a problem to record that on a vid to prove it because this former versions of NewPipe can't download a vid anymore and so the download table stays empty..., that often was the reason you produced a new version that times... But I'll try later...

But besides if it was different with a former version of NewPipe or not... Why isn't there any default player option for NewPipe? Other apps do have one...

I'd rather not downgrade my application, so no. I am 100% sure this wasn't the behavior before this version, though.

To clarify, it is the version specified on this report specifically (0.28.1). I was keeping my NewPipe up-to-date, so I can confirm it is that specific one...

No, for me it's since 0.28.2 until the latest 0.28.4 on my Galaxy S24+...
Did you just update from 0.28.1 to 0.28.2 and it was fine again on your phone?
Did you deinstall before updating to 0.28.2? Maybe I should delete and reinstall from scratch...
