Affected version

0.28.0

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Install Ripple app (https://github.com/guardianproject/ripple)
  2. Select NewPipe as a responder to the panic action
  3. Trigger the panic action
  4. The application restarts in the foreground instead of closing if it is active, or starts if it is inactive.

Expected behavior

The app should terminate itself and/or remove the search history, as it is mentioned on the guardian project's page (https://guardianproject.info/code/panickit/), and in the Ripple app.
The commit that introduced the feature in 2015 is here: #133
Either the feature should be removed or it should be fixed.

Actual behavior

The function that responds to an event initiated by a panic button no longer works.
