1. Open a video. You will see something similar to photo 1
2. Click on the square icon on the lower right, as highlithted on photo 1

Expected behavior

Watch the video on full screen.

Try to disable media tunnelling.
That solves the most playback issues on Android TV.

Settings > Video and Audio > Exoplayer Settings
