Affected version

0.28.0

Steps to reproduce the bug

environment:

  • turn off mobile connection as it isn't easy to control the connectivity with it.
  • use a wonky wifi connection

preconditions:

  • set default video preference to say 720p

user input steps:

  1. play any youtube video.
see it to be playing at the default set quality i.e. 720p.

  2. change the video quality to say 360p.

  3. to trigger "network error" in newpipe, go to some low connectivity area away from the wifi-router
this method doesn't work. turn off the internet connection (both wifi & mobile) and wait for sometime.

  4. see that toast saying "An error occured, please check notification" and corresponding notification saying "NewPipe encountered an error, tap to report" with next line being "Network error".
    also, the video stops playing.

  5. go to good internet connectivity region.
    turn on the internet again.

  6. see the video quality when it starts playing again.
i don't recall if i tried clicking play button or it played automatically.

Expected behavior

  • the video resumes playing at 360p.

Actual behavior

  • the video resumes playing at 720p.
