Playback control in Android notification sometimes becomes unresponsive when NewPipe runs in background

Steps to reproduce the bug

Description:
When playing a YouTube video in the foreground, NewPipe works normally.
However, after switching the app to background playback, the Android notification control panel (“This phone – NewPipe”) sometimes becomes partially unresponsive.

Specifically:

• The play/pause button works once (for example, it pauses playback).
• But tapping it again does not resume playback — it stays frozen.
• When I bring NewPipe back to the foreground and tap either the play/pause button on its video screen or the “background” button of NewPipe, everything works normally again.
• This issue occurs very frequently — switching NewPipe between foreground and background a few times almost always triggers it (within about 5 minutes, the problem can be reproduced nearly 100% of the time).

Steps to reproduce:

1. Play any YouTube video in NewPipe.
2. Switch the app to background playback.
3. Open the Android notification area and use the play/pause button.
4. Tap the button repeatedly (about 10–20 times) until it stops responding.
5. Bring NewPipe back to the foreground → tap the play/pause button on its video screen or the “background” button of NewPipe, and the controls start working again. Screenshot for the buttons:

This issue seems somewhat similar to older issues like (#8294) (stuck continue button after pause) and (#5730) (resuming after long pauses leads to loading loops), which made me confused at first.

However, this one has distinct characteristics:

• It triggers immediately with frequent foreground/background switches (nearly 100% reproducible within 5 minutes).
• It's specific to the Android notification play/pause button .
• Recovery is instant by bringing the app to foreground and tapping the play/pause(on the video) or "Background" button in NewPipe — no need to force-close the app.
