Steps to reproduce the bug

Open a video that allows choosing voice track language

Expected behavior

The aforementioned button is limited to a small size, potentially with scrolling text or as an icon (or isn't there at all/can be hidden by a setting)

Actual behavior

The button occupies most of the horizontal space. The title, which is more useful is reduced to a very small size. In portrait the button hides all other buttons too, and they are much more useful to have.


The button in question is "английский (Соединенные Штаты) оригинальный", translated as "english (United States) original".

It also happens in the Picture In Picture player, and makes the button to go to fullscreen invisible and unclickable.

Problem Analysis
Through code review, I identified that the audio track button (audioTrackTextView) in the player.xml layout file uses android:layout_width="wrap_content", which causes the button to automatically expand its width based on text content without any maximum width constraint. When audio track names are long (such as the Russian "английский (Соединенные Штаты) оригинальный"), the button occupies excessive horizontal space, compressing the video title and other control buttons.
Solution Strategy
Adopted a constrained layout + text truncation approach:
Add Maximum Width Constraints (android:maxWidth)
Set maxWidth="120dp" for audio track button
Set maxWidth="80dp" for quality button
Set maxWidth="60dp" for playback speed button
Set maxWidth="80dp" for resize mode button
Implement Text Truncation (android:ellipsize="end")
Display "..." at the end when text exceeds maximum width
Combined with android:singleLine="true" to ensure single-line display
Maintain Functional Integrity
Button remains clickable to view complete information
No impact on existing popup menu functionality
Preserves backward compatibility
Design Principles
Minimal Invasiveness: Only modify layout constraints without changing business logic
Consistency: Apply the same strategy to all potentially oversized control buttons
User Experience Priority: Ensure important information (video title) has sufficient display space
Internationalization Friendly: Resolve UI layout issues in multilingual environments
