Steps to reproduce the bug

Some videos has mixed/disordered/duplicated fragments on both play and download. These videos are played smooth in browser.

For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1JGrb-l3EI
Time codes of glitches:

  • 5:00
  • 8:20..8:50
  • 9:35
  • 9:50
  • 10:35
  • 11:50
  • 12:10
  • etc

Expected behavior

Smooth, non-repeating video synchronized with audio track, like in browser

Actual behavior

Some fragments (5-10 seconds in duration) are repeated and disordered, video has "instant jumps" forward and back.

Affected Android/Custom ROM version

Android 8, Android 9, (upd) Android 13

Affected device model

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab (SM-T515), Android 9
  • Samsung Galaxy A6 (SM-A600FN), Android 8
  • (upd) Samsung Galaxy S20, Android 13
    (exactly same problem with exactly same timecodes)

Additional information

  • Both download and playback are affected
  • Different resolutions 1080p, 720p, 480p
  • Differens ISPs
  • Exactly same problem over time: same timecodes, same fragment order, etc
  • Affects multiple (but not all) videos on the same channel. I hasn't seen this problem on other channels, it may be quite rare.
  • No crushes or error messages.
  • Audio is not affected, audio track is played smoothly.
  • It looks like a problem on an author's side, but it is not.
