GitHub Pages serves /404.html for any path it cannot match, so this one page
answers every bad URL on the site. Two things it therefore must not do:
- use a relative asset path. The page can be served from any depth, and
_includes/head.html builds every URL from site.url, so this is already
true -- but it breaks the moment something here hardcodes a relative one.
- claim to be a real page. `noindex` (handled in head.html) and
`sitemap: false` (read by jekyll-sitemap) keep it out of search results.
The links come from _data/navigation.yml rather than being spelled out, so a
future page added to the menu shows up here too.

<p>
There is no page at <code class="missing-path">that address</code>. The link
that brought you here may be out of date, or the page may have been renamed.
</p>
<p>These are all the pages on this site:</p>
<ul>
{% for item in site.data.navigation %}
<li><a href="{{ site.url }}{{ item.url }}">{{ item.title }}</a></li>
{% endfor %}
</ul>
<script>
// The address bar still holds the path the reader actually asked for --
// GitHub Pages serves this page without redirecting -- but Jekyll builds
// this file once, at deploy time, and cannot know what that path will be.
// So the placeholder above is filled in here, and stays a sensible sentence
// if scripting is off.
(function () {
var el = document.querySelector('.missing-path');
if (el && window.location.pathname) {
el.textContent = window.location.pathname;
}
})();
</script>
