What does "Hunter" do?

Hunter is a simple skill with Two Crossed Swords as it's icon, but blackguard has a penalty in learning it by default.
It says it increases damage, but doesn't specify whether that would be all damage or if its critical damage, etc.

The penalty for blackguard and buff to learning this "Hunter" skill for the Hunter suggests it only buffs ranged damage, but the icon being melee weapons makes me think it might be a universal damage buff. Would it be possible to add a bit more information to the skill in game to clarify the skill's effect?

It its a universal damage buff for all tool types: "All Damage: #%"
