There are actual measurements for this in #119. On 1.11 Filee sat around 177 MB working set in the tray and could stay at 400 to 500 MB after a few conversions. 1.12.0 fixed that: about 30 seconds after the last conversion it gives the memory back, and closing the main window really frees the window. The maintainer measured roughly 15 MB working set and 120 to 140 MB commit size idling in the tray after the fix. When idle it isn't doing much beyond the global input hook that watches for the drag gesture. If you'd rather not keep it resident at all, set "When I close the window" to quit under Settings > General and turn off "Start Filee when I sign in". |

@tk1475 has it right, thanks! In short: idle in the tray, Filee uses about 15 MB of working set (around 120–140 MB commit) and almost no CPU. It only listens for the drag gesture. After a conversion it gives the memory back about 30 seconds later. If you only want it while you use it, set "When I close the window" to quit (Settings → General) and turn off "Start Filee when I sign in". |
