1. The compressed file can actually be extracted, so it should also be possible to compress files.
2. Is it possible to add an indication of what type of file it is in the circle in the middle of the floating window, such as a zip archive, an xls spreadsheet, or a png image?

Thanks for the ideas! Both are there already:

1. Compressing: drop files (and, from 2.0.0, folders) on "One ZIP" and they're packed into one archive. It's on the Mixed files donut, and from 2.0.0 also on the back of most donuts (press Tab or turn the mouse wheel while the donut is open). For 7Z or TAR, duplicate "One ZIP" in Settings → Presets and change the target.
2. File type in the middle: the centre of the donut shows how many files you're dragging and their type, for example "1 × PNG" or "3 × XLSX". For a mixed drag it shows the count only.

If you meant something different for either one, tell me a bit more and I'll take another look.

I have pushed the changes for the same. It would live if admin approves.

Thanks, @cre8ive-marketing!

Just to keep things clear for anyone reading: both points in the original post already work in Filee, as described above ("One ZIP" packs files into an archive, and the centre of the donut shows the count and type, e.g. "3 × XLSX").

Your #336 adds different tools: making images, videos and audio smaller ("Compress image/video/audio"), merging videos and audio, a slideshow from pictures and removing metadata. That's a nice addition on its own.

2.0.0 is being released right now, so we'll review #336 after it.

A short follow-up: @cre8ive-marketing's #336 became #349, which is merged, so the next release adds Compress image / video / audio, merging videos and audio, a video from pictures, Extract audio and Remove metadata.

Both points of the original post already work as described above, so I'm closing this. Thanks for the ideas!
