Munder Difflin is a free, open-source project maintained by Chaitanya Giri, an individual developer based in India. There is no company behind it and no sales team. "We" and "us" in this document mean that one person.

02What stays on your device

Munder Difflin is a desktop application that drives command-line AI agents already installed on your machine. Everything it works with is stored locally, in the app's own data directory and in the hive folder you choose:

None of it is transmitted to us. There is no account, no sign-in, and no sync service. If your machine is offline, the app still works apart from the parts that call an AI provider.

This site is served as static files by GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies of its own and has no login.

06What we never collect

No prompts. No agent transcripts or output. No file paths, repository names, branch names or hostnames. No email addresses, account identifiers, machine identifiers or API keys. Nothing free-form — the property allowlist drops anything not in the tables above.

We hold no information that identifies you. That is a design decision, not a promise about our intentions — the allowlist is in the source code, and you are welcome to read it.

07Services you connect

Munder Difflin is a harness around tools you supply. When you configure an engine or an integration, your data goes directly from your machine to that provider, governed by their privacy policy and terms — not this one. We are not an intermediary and never see the traffic.

Review those providers' policies before sending them anything sensitive. Their handling of your data is outside our control.

08Retention

Anonymous events are retained by PostHog under their standard retention for our project and are used only in aggregate. Because the events carry no identifier beyond a random install UUID, we cannot single you out within them.

Everything else — your work, your keys, your memory, your hive — lives on your disk for exactly as long as you keep it, and is gone when you delete it. We hold no copy.

09Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data an organisation holds about you, including under the GDPR and the Indian Digital Personal Data Protection Act.

In practice we hold no personal data to act on: there is no account, and the analytics are anonymous by construction. The nearest thing to a handle on you is the random install UUID, and you can destroy it yourself by turning telemetry off, deleting the app's user-data directory, or both. If you believe we hold something about you regardless, write to us and we will look into it and act.

10Children

Munder Difflin is a developer tool and is not directed at children. It is not intended for use by anyone under 13, or under the minimum digital-consent age where they live if that age is higher.

11Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and any change to what the app collects also changes TELEMETRY.md in the same commit. Because the repository is public, the full history of both is permanently auditable.

The pixel art assets bundled with the app, meaning the tilesets and maps under src/renderer/src/assets/, are Modern Interiors - RPG Tileset [16X16] by LimeZu, used under the Complete Version licence. That licence permits editing and use in commercial and non commercial projects alike, and it requires credit to LimeZu, which we give here and in the repository.

The Office cast is not LimeZu art. Every character portrait and walking sprite is drawn procedurally by the app itself, and is covered by the MIT licence like the rest of the code. See ATTRIBUTION.md for the detail.

In short: the code is yours to do almost anything with; the artwork that ships alongside it is not. If you are unsure whether your use counts as commercial, assume it does and clear the asset licence first.

03What the software does

Munder Difflin is a harness. It does not contain an AI model and it does not think for itself. It starts and supervises command-line AI agents that are already installed on your computer — Claude Code, Codex, Copilot and others — each in a real pseudo-terminal, and gives them memory, messaging, scheduling and a shared workspace.

Those agents run as you, with your operating-system permissions, against your files and your accounts. The software also supports autonomous operation, in which agents continue working without a person watching each step.

Because agents act with your permissions, they can do anything you can do. That includes:

05Your accounts and keys

The software is bring-your-own-key. It drives subscriptions and API keys that you own and supply. You must comply with the terms of every provider you connect — Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, Google, Moonshot, Slack and any others — and their terms govern that usage, not ours.

Keys and secrets you enter are stored locally on your machine. Keeping them safe, rotating them and revoking them is your responsibility. We never receive them.

06Acceptable use

Do not use Munder Difflin to break the law, to access systems you are not authorised to access, to infringe anyone's rights, or to build or operate anything designed to cause harm. Do not use it in a way that violates the terms of the AI providers it drives.

The software runs locally and we have no technical ability to monitor or restrict your use of it. This clause states an obligation you accept, not a control we enforce.

The application itself is free and always will be. Two optional services are described on the website — Private Cloud (a dedicated sandbox environment per clone) and Private Network (end-to-end encrypted clone-to-clone messaging for teams).

These are arranged by contact rather than sold from the site, are not generally available, and nothing on the website is an offer to contract. Where such a service is provided, a separate written agreement will govern it and will take precedence over these terms for that service. Descriptions of planned functionality are not commitments to deliver it on any timetable.

Pro licences are sold at harnessmd.com. Pro is a single payment that buys a fixed term, a month or a year. It is not a subscription: no card is kept on file and nothing renews. When the term ends the paid features stop and the free app carries on working. The price is shown before you pay, payments are processed by Razorpay under their terms, and the terms published at harnessmd.com govern the purchase itself.

08Donations

Voluntary donations support continued development. A donation is a gift, not a purchase: it buys no licence, no feature, no support entitlement and no influence over the roadmap. Payments are processed by Razorpay under their terms. Like every other payment, a donation is final and is not refunded; see Refunds and cancellation below.

09Refunds and cancellation

All payments are final and we do not give refunds. That covers purchases, donations, and time you have paid for and not used.

In most cases there is nothing to cancel. Pro is a one time payment for a fixed term, not a subscription. We do not keep your card, nothing renews, and you are never charged again unless you decide to buy again. When the term runs out the paid features stop, the free app keeps working, and you owe us nothing.

Where a plan is charged on a recurring basis, you can stop it at any time from your account. Stopping it prevents any further charge, and access runs to the end of the period already paid for. It does not refund what has already been paid.

We may still choose to refund a payment, at our sole discretion, for example when something on our side clearly went wrong. Doing that once is a one off: it does not create a right to a refund and it does not oblige us to do the same again.

None of this takes away rights you have under the law that applies where you live. Where that law requires a refund, you get one.

If you think you were charged in error, or a payment did not give you the licence you bought, write to support@harnessmd.com with the payment reference and we will look into it. That is a billing problem, not a refund request, and we fix those.

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will not lose or damage data.

These terms may change; the date at the top will change with them, and the full history is public in the repository. Continuing to use the software after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Development may slow, change direction or stop at any time, and releases may be modified or withdrawn. Because the software is open source and runs entirely on your machine, a copy you already have keeps working regardless — and you or anyone else may fork and continue it under the MIT Licence.
