Devcontainer started failing upon codespaces creation

Sync my local copy with main. When I open a codespace using the konductor devcontainer, I get booted into a recovery container due to a failed devcontainer build.

root cause is the removal of the vscode user in favor of the generic ubuntu username during rebase from MS devcontainer to upstream vanilla ubuntu image.
